One of my favorite carbohydrate sources is sweet potato.
It’s a versatile and starchy vegetable that really tastes great on its own.
Sweet potatoes are a great option since they are inexpensive, readily available, delicious, and have many health benefits! They are high in vitamin B6, which reduces a chemical in our body called homocysteine that has been linked to degenerative diseases. It’s a good source of vitamin C, which helps in bone and tooth formation as well as digestion, blood cell formation and helps accelerate healing. Sweet potatoes also contain Vitamin D, which is crucial for the immune system. A mineral included in sweet potatoes would be potassium, which helps the body with many essential functions including relaxing muscle contractions, reduces swelling and protects and controls the activity of the kidneys.
They can be baked, steamed, cut in wedges, mixed in a salad or mashed.
